De volta ao Brasil após um período de 7 anos na França, o saxofonista Sergio Lyra reúne músicos para formar o Lyra 4tet, que tem como ponto de partida a cultura musical afro-latina, um forte elo cultural dos países da América Latina. O grupo é formado por Sergio Lyra (saxofone), José Luis Martins (piano), Aniel Someillan (contrabaixo) e Giba Favery (bateria).

A sólida referência na música afro-cubana, o colorido harmônico do jazz e da música brasileira são matéria-prima que serve de base para a exploração temática de composições da autoria de Sergio Lyra e algumas releituras de standards do jazz.

Sergio Lyra é formado em harmonia/jazz na Bill Evans Piano Academy, em Paris e já encabeçou diversos grupos que se dedicam à exploração da música com raízes afro-latinas.
